SELF-ESTEEM: SELF-TEST

© Cirilo Toro Vargas, Ph.D., 1994
Revision: 2003

Self-esteem is our self-image, that is, how we feel about ourselves.  It comprises thoughts and feelings about what we are and how we behave.  If we keep ourselves more positive, our self-esteem will be higher. If we keep ourselves more negative, our self-esteem will be lower.

Thru a personal evaluation as objective as possible, please indicate your answer by writing a checkmark on the column provided at your right, according to the following scale:

3 Almost Always

TOTALS FOR EACH COLUMN

TOTAL

INTERPRETATION OF THE SELF-TEST

On each column add the checkmarks and multiply by the number above that column.  For example, you multiply ten checkmarks on the first column by 4 and that equals 40.  Write down that amount on the space provided at the bottom of the column.  Then add up the amounts of the four columns and write down that total.  Examine, then, the interpretation of the results according to the following scale:

160-104
High self-esteem (negative)
103-84
High self-esteem (positive)
83-74
Low self-esteem (positive)
73-40
Low self-esteem (negative)
